Novel unsymmetrical ortho-metalated dirhodium (II) catalysts: trans influence of the axial ligand

1999

Inductive effects of an X axial group which are transmitted through the RhRh bond influence the reactivity of ortho-metalated dirhodium complexes 3 in the cyclization of 1-diazo-5-penten-2-one (4).

Three-Component Entanglements Consisting of Three Crescent-Shaped Bidentate Ligands Coordinated to an Octahedral Metal Centre

2007

3,3'-biisoquinoline ligands (biiq) L, bearing aromatic substituents on their 8 and 8' positions, have been used to generate interwoven systems consisting of three crescent-shaped ligands disposed around an octahedral metal centre. Mono-ligand complexes of the type [ReL(CO)3py]+ (py: pyridine) have also been prepared, leading to sterically non-hindering complexes in spite of the endotopic nature of the chelate used. The three-component entanglements have been prepared by using either FeII or RuII as gathering metal centre. The synthetic procedure is simple and efficient, affording fully characterised complexes as their PF6 or SbCl6 salts. X-ray crystallography clearly shows that the crescent…

Synthesis and NMR characterization of the cis and trans isomers of [Pt(II)(N9-adeH)2(pz)2] and X-ray crystallography of the trans isomer.

2007

The reaction of tetrapyrazine Pt(II) with adenine under basic conditions yielded two products both disubstituted by adenine and bound in all cases to the N-9 nitrogen of adenine. Crystals amenable to X-crystallographic analysis were obtained for one product which was consequently identified as trans-[Pt(II)(N9-adeH)2(pz)2](NO3)(4).H2O. The other product, though, was identified as the cis isomer based on extensive and comparative NMR structural studies whereby the two compounds were examined as both neutral and tetraprotonated species in solution. The major product of the reaction was unexpectedly the cis isomer, thus obtained in contrast to the trans effect, and the reason for this result i…

Five-coordinate complexes of palladium(ii) and platinum(ii) with α-diimine and 1,5-cyclooctadiene ligands

2001

The five-coordinate complexes [PtMe(cod)(N–N′)]BF4 [cod = η2,η2-cyclooctadiene, N–N′ = (6-R2)C5H3N-2-CHNR1 (R1 = C6H4OMe-4, R2 = H (1), Me (2); R1 = CMe3, R2 = H (3), Me (4); R1 = (R)-bornyl, R2 = Me (5))] are readily obtained from the reaction of [PtClMe(cod)] with N–N′ in the presence of NaBF4. The preparation of [PtMe(cod)(6)]BF4 (6 = 4-MeOC6H4NCHCHNC6H4OMe-4), [PdMe(cod)(N–N′)]BF4 and [PtCl(cod)(N–N′)]BF4 (N–N′ = 2, 4) requires chloride abstraction by AgBF4 from [PtClMe(cod)], [PdClMe(cod)] and [PtCl2(cod)], respectively, followed by coordination of N–N′. The NMR spectral data suggest a trigonal-bipyramidal structure with chelating cod and N–N′ ligands, where the α-diimine and one CC bo…
